MARCH/APRIL 2018

Welcome to the Season of Passover/Easter

Passover is a week-long commemoration celebrated in the early spring from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan. Passover commemorates the exodus of the Children of Israel from slavery in Egypt.

The word Passover is taken from the Hebrew word Pesach which means "to pass over".   Passover happens in springtime and gives rise to a greater understanding of  new life, growth, stimulation, change.

What exactly is Passover?

Passover is an annual Spiritual Window of freedom from spiritual oppression -  it is a time of realignment.  We first encounter the story of Passover in Exodus 12.

The original Passover, found in the Bible, is a memorial to God passing over the houses of the children of Israel when  the firstborn of man and beast in Egypt were killed. This miraculous event and its meaning occurred during the night of the fourteenth of the Hebrew month Nisan.

12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

For the New Testament Christian the Bible meaning of the Passover  revolves around the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  It is a memorial of his death as the true Lamb of God. Believers partake of unleavened bread and wine (Communion) in remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus' beaten body and shed blood. This sacrifice makes possible the forgiveness of our sins. By partaking of the Passover symbols of bread and wine, we are proclaiming and remembering our continual faith in Jesus' sacrifice.

"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! THE LAMB OF GOD who takes away the sin of the world! " (John 1:29, see also 1Peter 1:18-19, 1Corinthians 11:23-26 and Matthew 26:19-20, 26-29)

Passover/Easter through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ  celebrates and commemorates our deliverance from Spiritual death and all of the strongholds and curses of life.

Today I pray:

-  that you will come into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

-  that every "holding spirit" that has kept you in a state of bondage of any kind
will be demolished, devastated and destroyed  in Jesus Name.

-  that you will passover from the slavery of your past to "newness of life" in
   Jesus Name.

Wishing you all a very Happy Passover.
